Chevron Teacher Business Cards

I always send home "business cards" with my parents at the beginning of the school year. I put magnets on the back so parents can put them on the fridge for easy access. This year I decided to update them and make a chevron version which I'm loving! I may or may not already have them laminated. I would have had magnets on the back, too, but my magnetic tape got old and stopped sticking. Don't worry, I've got Amazon Prime on it! ;)

Get the chevron version HERE.

Enjoy!

QR Code Beginning Sounds (Photography Themed)

After moving around for a couple of years, I am officially back in kindergarten! I cannot be more excited!! The fact that our district gave every kindergarten class iPads adds to my excitement. I have been spending a lot of time on Pinterest looking for different ways I can use the iPads. One simple way is QR codes so I decided to make a QR code activity that my kiddos can use to practice letters and beginning sounds.

Here are some pictures of my daughter trying it out:

First, students will scan the QR code.

Next, they will look at the image and decide what the beginning sound is.

Then, students will clip the letter that begins with that sound. Another option would be to use dry erase markers and circle the letter, but you get the gist.

Check out the activity HERE.

Enjoy your week!

QR Code Alphabet Activity

I made my first QR code activity!!! Is it nerdy that I am extremely excited about this? I will be doing it more often now that I have figured out how.

The Activity comes with cards with images beginning with letters A-Z. Students will look at the images and decide what letter the items begin with. Then they use a tablet or phone to scan the QR code using a "QR Reader" to check their answer. The QR codes link to the letter the images start with.

Hope you enjoyed your weekend!

Heart Prints

I have seen some simple printmaking activities floating around Pinterest lately so I decided to let my kiddos do one. We made heart prints. If you haven't seen this activity, you bend a toilet paper roll into the shape of a heart and then students make prints with it.

The kids loved doing this and couldn't wait to take home their work!

Hope you had a fun Valentine's day with your class!

DIY Valentine Lacing Cards

My old lacing cards were made out of construction paper and then laminated. They were colorful, but got roughed up pretty quickly since five year olds are not the most careful people in the world. I wanted to make new ones and I wanted them to last longer.

My husband and I get A LOT of packages from Amazon so I started cutting out squares from the boxes with a paper cutter. The only issue was that my hole puncher wouldn't reach far enough across the square to make holes for the design I wanted (hearts for a Valentine theme).

I pulled out our drill and started making holes.

Before I knew it I had a class set. I made some for my teammate, too.

These should hold up a lot longer than construction paper. Now all they need is some red or pink string.  I do a lot of fine motor activities in my morning work stations so the lacing cards will be a station.

Happy Friday!!!

Classroom Theme Pack: Star Wars

My friend has been wanting a Star Wars themed classroom, but wasn't able to find much. Sooo I bought some graphics this past summer and started to work on a classroom theme pack. Once school started I got a tad bit extremely distracted and put it to the side. This week I picked it back up and finally finished it up! Woo hoo!

Here is a peek at what is in the pack:

I think I might also have a Star Wars themed room next year! =)

Until next time, may the force be with you! ;)

Christmas Ornament Craft

My students had a blast making simple ornaments this week! Students traced lids to create the shape of an ornament and then cut it out. I precut squares of tissue paper. Students glued the squares onto the ornament until it was completely covered. Afterwards, they applied a coat of glitter paint to give it some sparkle! I went back and added string so they could hang it.

They turned out really cute and the kids loved them!

Enjoy your week!
